About PlayaCR

We live on the Guanacaste coast. We built this site because every time a friend or family member said “we’re coming to Costa Rica,” we ended up writing the same long WhatsApp message. Where to eat. Which beach is best for kids. Which fishing captain to book. What to skip.

So we put it all online.

PlayaCR is not a travel agency. We don’t charge you for recommendations. We’re not getting paid to tell you a mediocre restaurant is great. When we say a place is worth your money, it’s because we’ve been there ourselves. When we say skip something, we mean it.

What We Do

Free guides and recommendations. Our blog posts are detailed, specific, and honest. Prices, drive times, names, opinions. Not “top 10 things to do” fluff copied from TripAdvisor.

Free trip planning. Tell us your dates, group size, and interests through our concierge form. We’ll send you a personalized day-by-day plan. No charge, no sales pitch. We want you to have a great trip.

Local operator connections. We know the charter captains, the tour guides, the rental companies. If you need a recommendation, we’ll point you to someone we trust. Not the one who pays us the most.

How We Make Money

Transparency matters. Some of the operators we recommend pay us a referral fee when you book through our links. This never changes our recommendations. We recommend the same places whether they pay us or not. If we think the best fishing captain in Flamingo doesn’t have a referral deal with us, we’ll still tell you to book them.

The Area We Cover

We focus on the Guanacaste Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Specifically: Flamingo, Brasilito, Conchal, Potrero, Tamarindo, Playa Grande, Avellanas, and the surrounding beaches. If you’re heading to Manuel Antonio, Arenal, or the Caribbean side, we’re not your best resource. But for this stretch of coast, nobody knows it better.
