What is a private event with PlayaCR?
A PlayaCR private event is a full-service buyout or group production we run end-to-end on the Pacific Guanacaste coast of Costa Rica. We scout the venue (restaurant, beach club, villa cluster, catamaran), negotiate the buyout, design the custom menu with the chef, arrange transfers and accommodation, book photography and music, run the programming, and serve as the single on-the-ground contact for the duration. Standard event types: corporate retreats, destination weddings, restaurant takeovers, bachelorette parties, milestone birthdays, and group catamaran charters. Range $5K to $250K+ depending on event size, venue, and programming.

Do you do corporate retreats in Costa Rica?
Yes - one of our specialties. For 10-50 person corporate retreats we typically book a cluster of 2-4 luxury villas (or a full boutique hotel buyout), arrange daily programming (offsites, team-building, wellness, surf, sunset catamaran charter), a private chef on call, all airport transfers, and the AV setup for working sessions. 3-7 days, $50K-200K+ total depending on group size, villa caliber, and programming intensity. We handle the whole thing - you arrive with your team and start working.
Can we buy out an entire restaurant in Tamarindo or Guanacaste?
Yes. Restaurant buyouts are available across the coast - the beachfront marquee restaurants (Pangas, Pacifico, Langosta Beach Club, Limonada at Las Catalinas, Catch), the smaller boutique kitchens (La Vecindad, Patagonia del Mar, Sentido Norte), and a few resort venues. Full buyout includes the venue, a custom multi-course menu designed with the chef, signature cocktails, music, photographer, and full event support. $5K-25K+ depending on venue size, menu tier, and headcount.
How much does a destination wedding cost in Costa Rica?
Range is $50K-250K+ all-in for a 30-120 person wedding week. Mid-range $80K-150K covers the ceremony venue, reception, rehearsal dinner, welcome event, group accommodation, full wedding planning, photographer, florist, AV, and transfers. Higher end adds bigger guest counts, multiple events, premium villas, and full week-long programming.
How far in advance do we need to book?
For weddings and corporate retreats: 4-8 months ahead is comfortable, 6-12 months for peak season (December-April). For restaurant buyouts and smaller events (bachelorette, milestone birthday): 6-10 weeks out works in most cases. Same-month requests are sometimes possible but limit which venues are available.
What size groups do you handle?
Comfortably 10 to 120 people. Beyond 120 we partner with larger event venues (Margaritaville Flamingo, Westin Playa Conchal, Four Seasons Papagayo) for function space and add our boutique villa overflow for the VIP guests.
Do you handle just the dining part, or the whole event?
Either. Many clients book just a restaurant buyout night (we book the venue, menu, music, photographer) within a larger trip they planned themselves. Larger clients book the entire trip - flights advice, transfers, villas, all activities, all meals, the event itself, departure transfers. Tell us what you want us to own and we scope from there.
What is the average lead time for a corporate retreat?
4-6 months for groups of 30+. 2-4 months for smaller corporate groups (10-25 ppl). The bottleneck is usually villa availability in high season and the catamaran fleet if you need a private charter.
Do you provide AV equipment, projectors, microphones?
Yes - we arrange all AV through vetted local partners. Conference setups for villa terraces, projectors, microphones, sound systems, even live translation for international groups. Confirmed in the proposal phase.
Can we do a Costa Rica bachelorette / bachelor party?
Yes - one of our most-booked event types. Typical bachelorette is 12-25 ppl over 3-5 days: villa buyout, sunset catamaran charter (whole boat), in-villa chef night, sound bath, themed party setup, sunset beach picnic with photographer. $15K-50K+ depending on group size and tier.
How does payment work for a large event?
30% deposit to lock the dates and venues. 30% midway through the planning (6 weeks out). 40% balance 7 days before arrival. International wire transfer or credit card. One invoice from PlayaCR for the whole package - we sub-pay each vendor on the back end.
